What equipment does my player need?
The league provides hats, uniforms, helmets, bats and balls. Players will need to bring their own glove and a water bottle. The league has extra gloves for any player who needs one. Cleats are encouraged.
Gender inclusivity?
Players of all gender identities are welcome to play in the Center City Little League. While Little League, Inc. has not yet adopted inclusive language and commitments, Center City strives to do so.
What division should my player register for?
There are four divisions in our league. While age is a guideline for deciding which division is most appropriate for your child, we take into the following factors:
- Prior baseball experience and athletic ability (we want each player to be appropriately challenged)
- Ability to be safe on the field
- Peer and friend relationships
Where you register your player is only the first step. If we find that the division is not the best fit, we are able to make changes. If you have questions about which division to register a player for, please reach out to Sam Brown (
[email protected]).
T-Ball
Players ages 4-6 typically play T-Ball. In this division, the focus is on having fun and learning the fundamentals of the game. Players have multiple tries to hit the ball off of the tee when they are up to bat. Every player bats every inning. While the defensive team is encouraged to attempt to get outs, there are no outs on the base paths, and every batter gets on base and scores each inning. Coaches are involved in helping players both on the field and up to bat.
Coach Pitch
Players ages 6-8 typically participate in the Coach Pitch division. The goal of this division is to develop a love of the game along with improving skills. Every player bats every inning. Each team’s coach pitches to their own players. Players who don’t get a hit off of the coach have a chance to hit the ball off the tee. No player strikes out. However, players may get out on the base paths. Coaches are involved in helping players both on the field and up to bat.Transitional Minors
Players who will be playing minors in the spring for the first time are eligible for this division. Typically these players are 3rd graders. Minors
Players ages 7-12 are eligible for the Minors division, although typically players are ages 8-11. In this division, teams focus on continued skill development, good sportsmanship, and having fun. Players begin to specialize in positions, including pitching and catching. Games can be up to 6 innings long, and outs are recorded. After the spring season is completed, players may be eligible to compete on the All-Stars summer team or in Summer and Fall ball.
Majors
Players ages 9-12 are eligible for the Majors division, although typically players are ages 9-12. In this division, teams continue to focus on skill development, position specialities, good sportsmanship, and having fun. Games are 6 innings long, and outs are recorded. After the spring season is completed, players may be eligible to compete on the All-Stars summer team or in Summer and Fall ball.
